“VISION” was formed in July 2007 by Burt Shur (Drums) and Jim Arter (Sax). Chuck Leichner (Keyboadist) joined the band in early September 2007 and Michael Willis (Bass) joined in early November 2007. These are some of the best musicians in and around the Denver area.

"VISION" plays a blend of Funk Jazz, Smooth jazz, Fusion Jazz, and Latin Jazz as well as a taste of Mainstream (Straighthead) Jazz. The main genre for the group is playing the best of the 1980’s jazz fusion. Capturing such great artist as Dave Grusin, David Sanborn, Yellow Jackets, and Jeff Lorber to name a few. This music is timeless and will always be the best of that era. Specializing in the best of the 1980’s jazz fusion. “VISION” is an outstanding, professional band ready for any occasion, whether in concert, club or private party (i.e., weddings, and corporate dinner dance). Presently performing in and around the Denver area doing clubs, casual work and concerts.

BBurt Shur - Drums
Burt has been playing professionally since he was 14 years old. Raised and played in Denver, join the Navy at 18. During his Naval service he formed his own band aboard ship (U.S.S. Hancock CVA-19) backing up may major Recording artist touring with the USO shows. After his service stayed in San Francisco area where he played in various jazz clubs and was the house drummer at the famous Jazz club “The Reunion”with the British pianist Tony Lewis. In 1979 he moved to Southern California and continued to play in clubs, concerts, and participated in extensive studio work. In 1981 traveled with Princess Cruise Line as musician/Leader. In 1982 teamed up with keyboardist Eddy Ambrose backing up the Incredible “Ms. Judy Bell Show”. Appearing in several local show clubs including The Playboy Club (Century City, Ca & Columbus, Oh). Burt has had the pleasure of performing with such recording artists as Vicki Carr, Danny Kaye, Martha Rae, Max Bennett, Rob Mullins, Brian Bromberg and Robert Conti to name as few.

Jim Arter – Alto and Soprano Sax
Jim started playing Clarinet at the age of eight and started Saxophone studies at twelve. Started playing professionally during High School, Jim formed his own Sextet and was gigging at private party's and Corporate events. Jim attended the University of Northern Colorado Music School under the direction of Gene Aiken. Jim has studied and performed Latin Jazz with local artist Eric Trujillo. Jim still continues to study privately with local Sax Professional Chuck Schneider. His main influences are Cannonball Adderley, Phil Woods, Bob Berg, Kenny Garrett, Grover Washington and David Sanborn. Before teaming up with Burt Shur to start “Vision”, Jim had his own Jazz Quartet and played local clubs and Corporate events.

Michael Willis - Double Bassist
Michael has played with many notable jazz musicians, as well as leading his own ensembles in and around Washington D.C, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. Started playing professionally in his teens. He has composed and performed for modern dance, in both the United States and abroad, and has extensive recording studio experience both as a musician and producer. He studied piano and music theory with David R. Karr and Double Bass, composition, and music theory with bassist/composer Terry Plumeri in Washington D.C. where he lived for over 20 years before moving to Boulder, CO.

Chuck Leichner - Keyboardist
Chuck began classical training at the age of four. His passion for jazz was developed at an early age due to the influence of his grandfather's New York jazz trio. He played his first professional engagement at age 15. Over the next three decades, his love of jazz and improvisation continued to grow. Today, performance and composition in the jazz idiom continue to be the major focal point of his efforts. Chuck creates and records contemporary jazz that combines full-bodied instrumentation with solid urban groove. His playing style has been compared to Herbie Hancock, Jeff Lorber and Bob James. Throughout his career, Chuck has performed as a solo artist and with a wide variety of groups spanning many genres. These include: jazz trios, quartets, big band orchestras, adult contemporary rock and cover bands. In addition, Chuck's keyboard experience includes studio session work and college jazz clinics with Dizzy Gillespie and Clark Terry.
